Wellcome to...
the Home Page of World Peace Monument Association.
This homepage gives you all background information about our virtual community for peace, who stands behind it, how the project is financed and realised as well as how you can co-operate.
The vast majority of people want world peace. No war, no terror and no weapons of mass destruction. Nevertheless today, another war in the Middle East is a sad reality. This is because the political and economical establishment are ignoring the majority in order to satisfy their own objectives. The World Peace Monument will be the global symbol of the peace-loving majority. By joining the Association for a World Peace Monument, you will become a “brick stone” of this monument and as such be part of a permanent lobby for peace.
The Association for a World Peace Monument

is a Swiss based institution, incorporated to build a World Peace Monument that will include a congress and communications centre. Situated on top of Mount Ora, eight kilometres southwest of Jerusalem and over looking Bethlehem. The French architect Jean Nouvel has created the World Peace Monument on behalf of the association. With a height of 100 meters and a diameter of 40 meters, this unique peace tower is not to overlook. In order to implement peace in practical terms, the World Peace Monument Foundation, will fund peace related projects on a basis, which is completely independent from any political or religious influence.
First steps are made
Founded in 1999 by a number of prominent, independent individuals, the Swiss based Association for a World Peace Monument purchased 15’000 m² of property and financed the construction project for the monument. Today prominent leaders of all religions, presidents of States, scientists, philosophers, artists, sports celebrities and leaders of the world economy have all granted their support and have become Honorary Members of the Association for a World Peace Monument. The fundament of the World Peace Monument is already laid.

Why a monument

The World Peace Monument symbolises the wish for world peace for all people, independent of their race, religion or nationality. However, this symbol is not really the World Peace Monument. The real monument is the member community of the Association for a World Peace Monument. Consequently, the monument belongs to all association members who are supporting the vision of a human barrier against war. The congress and communications centre will be an integrated part of the world peace monument and will become the platform for a permanent dialogue between the different religions and nations in the world. For more than 2000 years Jews, Christians and Muslims have fought in the name of God. These wars have brought suffering, social and economical disaster for millions of people. Political leaders and institutions have not been able to break this vicious circle. We have to do it, meaning every peace-loving individual. As a single person, this is an impossible task, but as a community, we will be heard and cannot be ignored.
The World Peace Monument is a worldwide virtual community of members claiming world peace, using the Internet as the platform to communicate and to spread this ideal. The community has its legitimacy from the lowest but most powerful democratic level and can therefore act side by side with the institution from religions, politics and the globalise economy, claiming that permanent world peace is a priority over influence, power and money.
The World Peace Monument community is asking leaders of religious, political, ethnical and other social organisations to exercise tolerance and respect within their own ranks and to base their acting on the opinion of the faithful and of the citizens. This is the only way to achieve a lasting change in politics and preservation of peace.
More than a monument
The congress and communications centre of the World Peace Monument will become the permanent meeting place of all religions. An institution for peace, independent from political structures but under the patronage of the United Nations. Similar to the United Nations but supported and legitimised by millions of World Peace Monument members, the World Peace Monument Centre in Jerusalem shall act as an institution to secure peace in the world. Its objective is to institutionalise a permanent dialogue between religions, ethnic groups and nations. Imagine if the United Nations would have had their headquarter in Jerusalem. There would have been being fewer conflicts in the Middle East! The World Peace Monument Centre as an institution enables communication and helps to find solutions, but the realisation of such solutions requires funding, hence the World Peace Monument Foundation. According to its statutes, the foundation has been set up with the following purpose:

Supported by numerous individuals, the World Peace Monument symbolises the desire for world peace. Representing the single members of the World Peace Monument Association, the foundation supports the peace mission financially through funding of peace promoting projects. It is the ultimate goal to come to the realisation that violence can never be the final resort but rather the continuous efforts to find peaceful and violent free solutions.
The foundation supports those persons and institutions that are able to prevent a possible use of force of arms between nations, ethnic groups and/or religions through mutual renunciation of violence.
As preventive measures, the foundation is financing the pure research on the avoidance of conflicts resulting from ecologic, economic, demographic, medical, juridical, ethnic and/or religious problems as well as resulting projects from such pure research.
Direct support is given to victims of violence or war for survival and reconstruction purposes. The foundation may, at its own discretion, support further projects supporting, promoting and/or securing peace.
Your co-operation in WPM
In co-operation with the supporting world religions and humanitarian organisations, the WPM community is linked through an Internet portal. This portal enables the single members to communicate with each other with no geographical, ethnic or religious boundaries.

The Association for a World Peace Monument uses this platform to inform its members in a comprehensive, competent and neutral way on peace related matters in politics, religion, culture and science. The biggest importance however is given to the active participation of the single members. Numerous forums and chat rooms will give them the possibility to share their views, insights and experiences.

Independent, cosmopolitan and liberal individuals have founded the World Peace Monument in Switzerland. The neutral country of Switzerland, home of the International Red Cross organisation, has a humanitarian tradition and is therefore predestined to launch the World Peace Monument project. More than just predestination the WPM founders felt it an obligation to do so. Numerous personalities are giving support and have joined the Association for World Peace Monument as Honorary Members, amongst others His Holiness Pope John Paul II, His Royal Highness Prince El-Hassan Bin Talal of the Royal Court of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the former Israeli Presidents Ezer Weitzman and Prof. Ephraim Katzir, the Palestinian President and Nobel Peace prize winner Yasser Arafat, Prince Hans-Adam II. von und zu Liechtenstein, the former mayor of Jerusalem Tedy Kollek, the Anglican Archbishop of Jerusalem Riah H. How is the project financed
Up to today, the initiators have financed and realized the project from their own funds. Over time, more people have joined the original founders and together they formed a professional project team. Coming mainly from a entrepreneur and management background they have developed a financing system for the World Peace Monument that is independent from donation. The construction and the operational start of the World Peace Monument and the Congress and Communications Centre require an investment of some 300 million US dollars. This money will earned through commercial activities via a purpose made company that will market the registered trademarks of the World Peace Monument on a worldwide basis. Very soon, you will find WPM branded products, such as phone cards, clothes, postcards, cinema tickets etc. in the marketplace. The World Peace Monument will work closely together with existing suppliers, international brands and the advertising industry. WPM products will provide a real value add to the consumer and additionally give them the possibility to join the Association for a World Peace Monument. The realized profits from these commercial activities will secure the financing of the World Peace Monument by funding the companies in charge of the realization of the World Peace Monument, Global Skynet International Ltd. and Multiple Consultants International Inc. with license payments and loans. Once completed, the World Peace Monument and the Congress and Communications Centre will be given as a gift to the Association for a World Peace Monument.
